5 out of 5 stars
How I rate novels: 1 (Abysmally Low-Ranked). 2 (Poor Quality). 3 (Average). 4 (Above Average). 5 (Outstanding).
Everything from 3-5 stars is positive, with the lower end negative, or in need of improvements. (This one was only positive!)
I rate stories based off of my experience reading them, everyone is partial to their own understanding of the story. I still recommend you reading the novel and thinking for yourself.
As a side note, I had not actually read the summary of the story until prior to finishing up to the current chapter (Ch30).
Writing Quality- 4/5: I cant comment on the original source as I haven't read or learned Japanese, so I can only go by how well it has been translated. The translation for this series is amazing, a lot of effort seems to have been put into making the characters, dialogue, and plot as clear as possible.
Plot Development- 4/5: To me the most vital issue I have with it is the pacing, the first few chapters to me feel like they accelerated a little too fast past her village life, it may have gone a long way to show us more of the village, so we could grow personal attachments to the residents of the village. But this is pretty much my only non spoiler issue. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) such a minor flaw is not much of an impact on the plot of the novel. If we had one more chapter even for the village, I would have easily ignored it. This issue has nothing to do with the translator, who did a fantastic job translating form Japanese to English so smoothly.
Character Development- 5/5: Its surprising to see a female main character so adamant on revenge. I've only read a few where female protagonists are bloodthirsty for revenge. Unlike other similar novels I have read the main character feels real to me, and not unnaturally violent, or meekly passive in revenge. For me its just the right kind of crazy driven revenge I was searching to enjoy. As this novel is still too early on in the story to decide on her relationships, I will only hope it is of the same emotional level as her initial relationships in the story. I Love the characters in this story, and thus I put the extra star for outstanding (just my bias).
World Building- 3/5: Pretty average dark fantasy setting, with human supremacy going against the protagonist. Not much to comment on, I didn't particularly feel as drawn into the world here as I did the characters. I didn't actively read to try and understand the overall world of the novel this time. I'm not even sure if they have a wider world behind the pages, as I didn't really focus on it too much. It didn't interfere with the story yet, and I do like the demons vs humans trope, so I rated this as average.
Creativeness- 4/5: I love the idea of having the main character not be the hero but an 'evil race', while the actual hero is not the villain but is an actual evil race (human). Of course its completely unexpected to me to see the humans treat their own hero so fiercely. It should be noted, there are other novels that have them treating their own as trash, most revenge novels follow this. However, this time it actually felt unexpected to me. While many element of the story are not actually that new, it still manages to feel new and fun.
My Take: Love the novel so far, it feels new, but familiar. Still in its early stages, but its worth keeping an eye on.
